Terms of Service

Last updated: July 9, 2026

1. Acceptance of terms

By creating a Bonnie account or using the Bonnie service, you agree to these Terms of Service. Bonnie is operated by Canopus Financial LLC ("we," "us," or "our"). If you don't agree, please don't use Bonnie.

2. What Bonnie is — and what it isn't

Bonnie is bookkeeping software. It helps small business owners organize source documents, draft a chart of accounts, propose categorizations, and produce financial statements like profit-and-loss reports.

Bonnie is not a CPA, a tax preparer, a financial advisor, an attorney, or an auditor. Nothing Bonnie produces is professional advice. Bonnie can help you keep your books organized, but you are responsible for reviewing the books before relying on them, and for engaging qualified professionals for any matters that require licensed expertise.

3. Account eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding contract to use Bonnie. You agree to provide accurate information when you sign up and to keep your account information current. You are responsible for everything that happens under your account, including keeping your password safe.

4. Subscription and billing

Bonnie is offered on two automatically renewing subscription plans, each preceded by a 30-day free trial. The monthly plan is $15 per month. The annual plan is $150 per year (equivalent to $12.50 per month), charged once each year. The first charge is due when the trial ends unless you cancel before then. These prices are also shown on the pricing page and at checkout before you subscribe.

We use Stripe to process payments. You authorize us — through Stripe — to charge your selected payment method on a recurring basis until you cancel. You may cancel at any time from your account; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period and we do not refund partial periods unless required by law. Prices and plan structure may change; if they do, we'll give you reasonable notice before any change affects your subscription.

5. Acceptable use

Don't use Bonnie to do anything illegal, abusive, or harmful. Specifically, don't:

  • Use Bonnie to launder funds, commit fraud, or evade obligations to creditors or counterparties.
  • Upload content you don't have the right to upload.
  • Try to reverse-engineer, scrape, or interfere with Bonnie's operation or security.
  • Use Bonnie to provide bookkeeping or advisory services to third parties without our written agreement.
  • Impersonate someone else or misrepresent your business identity.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.

6. Your data and ownership

You own your business data. We hold and operate on the data you give us only to provide the Bonnie service. We don't sell your data, and we don't use the content of your books to market unrelated services. Our data handling is described in more detail in our Privacy Policy.

You can export your data at any time from your account, and you can request deletion by writing to [email protected].

7. Third-party services we rely on

Bonnie uses third-party services for bank-and-card connectivity, payment processing, transactional email, AI-assisted bookkeeping, hosting, storage, and limited public-page analytics. Your use of Bonnie includes interactions with these services, each governed by its own terms and privacy policy. The current provider-by-provider list and what each one handles is maintained in our Privacy Policy.

8. Disclaimers

Bonnie is provided "as is" and "as available". We don't warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for any particular purpose. We don't guarantee that any categorization, calculation, or statement produced by Bonnie is correct — you are responsible for reviewing your books before relying on them, sharing them with anyone, or making financial decisions based on them. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Bonnie and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of (or inability to use) Bonnie. Our total aggregate liability for any claim relating to Bonnie is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Canopus Financial LLC and its owners, employees, and contractors from any claims, losses, liabilities, damages, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or relating to your use of Bonnie, the content or data you upload, your violation of these terms, or your violation of any law or the rights of any third party. We may, at our own expense, assume the exclusive defense and control of any matter otherwise subject to indemnification by you, in which case you agree to cooperate with us in asserting any available defenses.

11. Termination

You can stop using Bonnie at any time and close your account from within the app or by writing to [email protected]. We can suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms, if your continued use poses a risk to us or to other users, or if we are required to do so by law. On termination, sections that by their nature should survive (data ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, governing law) will survive.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we'll change the "last updated" date above and, for material changes, give you notice in the app or by email. Your continued use of Bonnie after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute that can't be resolved informally will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in California, and you and we consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.

14. Contact
